Contract Manager Job Description
About the role
Our team needs a Contract Manager to take ownership of contracts from first draft through renewal and close-out. You will negotiate terms, flag risk, track obligations and deadlines, and keep a clean, searchable record of every agreement. The ideal candidate is detail-obsessed, commercially minded, and comfortable moving between legal language and the practical needs of the business.
Key responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts and amendments
- Track obligations, milestones, and renewal dates across the contract portfolio
- Identify contractual risk and advise stakeholders on terms
Responsibilities
- Draft and review contracts including MSAs, SOWs, NDAs, and vendor and customer agreements
- Negotiate commercial and legal terms with counterparties and capture agreed positions accurately
- Maintain a central contract repository with version control and clear metadata
- Track key dates such as renewals, expirations, and termination notice windows and alert owners early
- Monitor obligations and deliverables to confirm both parties meet their commitments
- Flag legal, financial, and delivery risks and recommend fallback positions or escalation
- Maintain and improve contract templates, clause libraries, and playbooks
- Coordinate approvals, signatures, and execution across legal, finance, and business owners
- Manage disputes, claims, and variations, documenting changes and their commercial impact
- Report on contract status, spend, and compliance to procurement and leadership
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business, law, supply chain, or a related field
- 3 or more years in contract management, procurement, or a commercial legal role
- Proven experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts independently
- Familiarity with contract lifecycle management (CLM) tools and repositories
- A relevant certification (such as CCCM, CPCM, or IACCM/World CC) is an advantage
