HR Glossary
What is Arbitration?
A private dispute resolution process where an impartial third party (the arbitrator) hears evidence from both sides and issues a binding or non-binding decision, often used as an alternative to court litigation in employment disputes.
Why it matters in hiring
Arbitration comes up whenever teams compare candidates, set policy or report on people data. Getting the definition right keeps decisions consistent, which is the same reason springhire scores every applicant against the same criteria rather than on impression.
