HR Glossary
What is At-Will Employment?
The default employment relationship in 49 US states (all except Montana) where either the employer or the employee can end the relationship at any time, for any legal reason, without advance notice.
Why it matters in hiring
At-Will Employment comes up whenever teams compare candidates, set policy or report on people data. Getting the definition right keeps decisions consistent, which is the same reason springhire scores every applicant against the same criteria rather than on impression.
