HR Glossary
What is Attrition Rate?
The percentage of employees who leave an organization over a given period and aren't replaced, resulting in a net reduction in workforce size, commonly used to measure the natural shrinkage of an employee population through resignations, retirements, and other departures.
Why it matters in hiring
Attrition Rate comes up whenever teams compare candidates, set policy or report on people data. Getting the definition right keeps decisions consistent, which is the same reason springhire scores every applicant against the same criteria rather than on impression.
