HR Glossary
What is Chain of Command?
The formal line of authority and communication that runs from the top of an organization to the bottom, defining who reports to whom and how decisions, instructions, and escalations flow through management layers.
Why it matters in hiring
Chain of Command comes up whenever teams compare candidates, set policy or report on people data. Getting the definition right keeps decisions consistent, which is the same reason springhire scores every applicant against the same criteria rather than on impression.
