What is Church Tax (Germany)?
A payroll tax in Germany of 8% or 9% of income tax (varying by federal state) automatically withheld from wages of employees who are registered members of a recognized religious community, primarily the Catholic and Protestant churches.
Why it matters in hiring
Church Tax (Germany) comes up whenever teams compare candidates, set policy or report on people data. Getting the definition right keeps decisions consistent, which is the same reason springhire scores every applicant against the same criteria rather than on impression.
