What is Counter Offer?
A competing offer made by a current employer to an employee who has received an external job offer, typically involving a salary increase, promotion, or improved conditions to persuade them to stay.
Why it matters in hiring
Counter Offer comes up whenever teams compare candidates, set policy or report on people data. Getting the definition right keeps decisions consistent, which is the same reason springhire scores every applicant against the same criteria rather than on impression.
