What is E-Verify?
A free, web-based system operated by the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in partnership with the Social Security Administration (SSA) that allows employers to electronically confirm new employees' work authorization by comparing Form I-9 information against government databases.
Why it matters in hiring
E-Verify comes up whenever teams compare candidates, set policy or report on people data. Getting the definition right keeps decisions consistent, which is the same reason springhire scores every applicant against the same criteria rather than on impression.
