What is Employment?

The formal relationship between an employer and an employee, where the employee performs work under the employer's direction in exchange for compensation. Employment creates mutual obligations, legal protections, and tax consequences.

Why it matters in hiring

Employment comes up whenever teams compare candidates, set policy or report on people data. Getting the definition right keeps decisions consistent, which is the same reason springhire scores every applicant against the same criteria rather than on impression.
