HR Glossary
What is Factories Act?
India's central legislation enacted in 1948 that regulates safety, health, welfare, working hours, and employment conditions for workers in factories, applying to premises with 10 or more workers using power, or 20 or more workers without power.
Why it matters in hiring
Factories Act comes up whenever teams compare candidates, set policy or report on people data. Getting the definition right keeps decisions consistent, which is the same reason springhire scores every applicant against the same criteria rather than on impression.
