HR Glossary
What is Family Leave?
Time off from work to address family-related needs such as the birth or adoption of a child, caring for a seriously ill family member, or handling family emergencies. Family leave may be paid or unpaid and is governed by federal, state, and international laws.
Why it matters in hiring
Family Leave comes up whenever teams compare candidates, set policy or report on people data. Getting the definition right keeps decisions consistent, which is the same reason springhire scores every applicant against the same criteria rather than on impression.
