HR Glossary
What is Intern?
A person, typically a student or recent graduate, who works within an organization for a fixed period to gain practical experience in a specific field, with the arrangement structured as either paid employment or, under strict legal conditions, unpaid educational training.
Why it matters in hiring
Intern comes up whenever teams compare candidates, set policy or report on people data. Getting the definition right keeps decisions consistent, which is the same reason springhire scores every applicant against the same criteria rather than on impression.
