HR Glossary
What is Intersectionality?
A framework for understanding how multiple aspects of a person's identity (race, gender, class, disability, sexuality, and others) overlap and interact to create unique experiences of privilege, discrimination, and systemic inequality that can't be understood by examining any single identity factor alone.
Why it matters in hiring
Intersectionality comes up whenever teams compare candidates, set policy or report on people data. Getting the definition right keeps decisions consistent, which is the same reason springhire scores every applicant against the same criteria rather than on impression.
