HR Glossary
What is Lockout?
An employer-initiated work stoppage where the employer temporarily shuts down operations or refuses to allow employees to work, used as a bargaining tool during labor disputes to pressure workers or their union into accepting the employer's terms.
Why it matters in hiring
Lockout comes up whenever teams compare candidates, set policy or report on people data. Getting the definition right keeps decisions consistent, which is the same reason springhire scores every applicant against the same criteria rather than on impression.
