HR Glossary
What is Long-Term Assignment?
An international work assignment lasting one to five years where the employee and typically their family relocate to a host country, with a full expatriate compensation package including housing, schooling, tax equalization, and a planned repatriation at the end of the assignment period.
Why it matters in hiring
Long-Term Assignment comes up whenever teams compare candidates, set policy or report on people data. Getting the definition right keeps decisions consistent, which is the same reason springhire scores every applicant against the same criteria rather than on impression.
