HR Glossary
What is Mediation?
A voluntary, confidential dispute resolution process where a neutral third party (the mediator) helps the parties involved reach a mutually acceptable agreement, without imposing a decision on either side.
Why it matters in hiring
Mediation comes up whenever teams compare candidates, set policy or report on people data. Getting the definition right keeps decisions consistent, which is the same reason springhire scores every applicant against the same criteria rather than on impression.
