What is Medical Leave?

Time away from work for the diagnosis, treatment, or recovery from a serious health condition affecting the employee. Medical leave may be continuous or intermittent, paid or unpaid, and is typically protected under FMLA, ADA, state disability laws, or a combination of these frameworks.

Why it matters in hiring

Medical Leave comes up whenever teams compare candidates, set policy or report on people data. Getting the definition right keeps decisions consistent, which is the same reason springhire scores every applicant against the same criteria rather than on impression.
