HR Glossary
What is Mentoring?
A developmental relationship in which a more experienced individual (mentor) provides guidance, knowledge, and support to a less experienced person (mentee) to accelerate their professional growth.
Why it matters in hiring
Mentoring comes up whenever teams compare candidates, set policy or report on people data. Getting the definition right keeps decisions consistent, which is the same reason springhire scores every applicant against the same criteria rather than on impression.
