HR Glossary
What is Microaggression?
Brief, commonplace verbal, behavioral, or environmental slights that communicate hostile, derogatory, or dismissive messages to members of marginalized groups, whether or not the person delivering them intends harm.
Why it matters in hiring
Microaggression comes up whenever teams compare candidates, set policy or report on people data. Getting the definition right keeps decisions consistent, which is the same reason springhire scores every applicant against the same criteria rather than on impression.
