HR Glossary
What is Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA)?
A federal law enacted in 1970 that requires employers to provide a workplace free from recognized hazards, establishes safety standards, and authorizes workplace inspections and penalties through the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
Why it matters in hiring
Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) comes up whenever teams compare candidates, set policy or report on people data. Getting the definition right keeps decisions consistent, which is the same reason springhire scores every applicant against the same criteria rather than on impression.
