What is Pay Equity Act (Canada)?
Canadian federal legislation, in force since 2021, requiring federally regulated employers with 10 or more employees to proactively identify and correct gender-based pay gaps by comparing compensation across predominantly female and predominantly male job classes of equal value.
Why it matters in hiring
Pay Equity Act (Canada) comes up whenever teams compare candidates, set policy or report on people data. Getting the definition right keeps decisions consistent, which is the same reason springhire scores every applicant against the same criteria rather than on impression.
