HR Glossary
What is Performance Rating?
A numerical score or descriptive label assigned to an employee's performance during a review period, used to differentiate levels of contribution and inform compensation, promotion, and development decisions.
Why it matters in hiring
Performance Rating comes up whenever teams compare candidates, set policy or report on people data. Getting the definition right keeps decisions consistent, which is the same reason springhire scores every applicant against the same criteria rather than on impression.
