What is Probation Period?
A trial employment period in the UK, typically 3 to 6 months, during which new employees have limited unfair dismissal protections until reaching 2 years of service.
Why it matters in hiring
Probation Period comes up whenever teams compare candidates, set policy or report on people data. Getting the definition right keeps decisions consistent, which is the same reason springhire scores every applicant against the same criteria rather than on impression.
