What is Redundancy?

A form of dismissal that occurs when an employer no longer needs a particular role to be done, most commonly used in UK, EU, and Australian employment law to describe position elimination and the associated statutory obligations.

Why it matters in hiring

Redundancy comes up whenever teams compare candidates, set policy or report on people data. Getting the definition right keeps decisions consistent, which is the same reason springhire scores every applicant against the same criteria rather than on impression.
