What is Retaliation?
An adverse action taken by an employer against an employee in response to the employee engaging in a legally protected activity, such as filing a discrimination complaint, reporting safety violations, or participating in a workplace investigation.
Why it matters in hiring
Retaliation comes up whenever teams compare candidates, set policy or report on people data. Getting the definition right keeps decisions consistent, which is the same reason springhire scores every applicant against the same criteria rather than on impression.
