HR Glossary
What is Secondment?
A temporary assignment where an employee is sent to work in a different department, subsidiary, or external organization for a defined period while remaining on the payroll of their original employer.
Why it matters in hiring
Secondment comes up whenever teams compare candidates, set policy or report on people data. Getting the definition right keeps decisions consistent, which is the same reason springhire scores every applicant against the same criteria rather than on impression.
