HR Glossary
What is Shortlisting?
The process of screening job applications to select the most qualified candidates for interviews, typically reducing a large applicant pool to 3-8 finalists.
Why it matters in hiring
Shortlisting comes up whenever teams compare candidates, set policy or report on people data. Getting the definition right keeps decisions consistent, which is the same reason springhire scores every applicant against the same criteria rather than on impression.
