What is State Minimum Wage?

The hourly minimum pay rate set by individual US states, which can exceed the federal minimum wage of $7.25. When state rates are higher, employers must pay the state rate under FLSA's highest-rate rule.

Why it matters in hiring

State Minimum Wage comes up whenever teams compare candidates, set policy or report on people data. Getting the definition right keeps decisions consistent, which is the same reason springhire scores every applicant against the same criteria rather than on impression.
