What is Stock Appreciation Rights (SAR)?
A form of incentive compensation that gives employees the right to receive cash or stock equal to the increase in company stock value over a set base price, without requiring them to purchase shares.
Why it matters in hiring
Stock Appreciation Rights (SAR) comes up whenever teams compare candidates, set policy or report on people data. Getting the definition right keeps decisions consistent, which is the same reason springhire scores every applicant against the same criteria rather than on impression.
