HR Glossary
What is Termination for Cause?
The involuntary dismissal of an employee based on a specific, documented reason such as misconduct, policy violation, or gross negligence, typically resulting in forfeiture of severance pay and certain post-employment benefits.
Why it matters in hiring
Termination for Cause comes up whenever teams compare candidates, set policy or report on people data. Getting the definition right keeps decisions consistent, which is the same reason springhire scores every applicant against the same criteria rather than on impression.
