HR Glossary
What is Title VII?
Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the federal law that prohibits employment discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, sexual orientation, and gender identity), and national origin, enforced by the EEOC.
Why it matters in hiring
Title VII comes up whenever teams compare candidates, set policy or report on people data. Getting the definition right keeps decisions consistent, which is the same reason springhire scores every applicant against the same criteria rather than on impression.
