HR Glossary
What is Ulrich Model?
A framework for organizing the HR function created by Dave Ulrich in 1997 that divides HR into four roles (strategic partner, change agent, employee champion, and administrative expert) and later evolved into the three-pillar structure of HR Business Partners, Centers of Excellence, and Shared Services.
Why it matters in hiring
Ulrich Model comes up whenever teams compare candidates, set policy or report on people data. Getting the definition right keeps decisions consistent, which is the same reason springhire scores every applicant against the same criteria rather than on impression.
