HR Glossary
What is Underperformer?
An employee whose work output, quality, or behavior consistently falls below the expectations and standards defined for their role, requiring intervention from their manager or HR.
Why it matters in hiring
Underperformer comes up whenever teams compare candidates, set policy or report on people data. Getting the definition right keeps decisions consistent, which is the same reason springhire scores every applicant against the same criteria rather than on impression.
