HR Glossary
What is Whistleblowing?
The act of a worker reporting certain types of wrongdoing, typically related to criminal activity, health and safety dangers, or environmental damage, that is protected under UK law through the Public Interest Disclosure Act 1998 (PIDA).
Why it matters in hiring
Whistleblowing comes up whenever teams compare candidates, set policy or report on people data. Getting the definition right keeps decisions consistent, which is the same reason springhire scores every applicant against the same criteria rather than on impression.
