HR Glossary
What is Works Council?
An elected body of employee representatives within a company that has the right to be informed, consulted, and sometimes co-decide on workplace matters such as working conditions, layoffs, and organizational changes, operating separately from trade unions.
Why it matters in hiring
Works Council comes up whenever teams compare candidates, set policy or report on people data. Getting the definition right keeps decisions consistent, which is the same reason springhire scores every applicant against the same criteria rather than on impression.
