HR Generalist Job Description
About the role
We are looking for an HR Generalist to be the reliable, hands-on backbone of our people team. You will touch a bit of everything, from onboarding new hires and answering benefits questions to keeping records clean and helping managers with day-to-day HR needs. This role is perfect for someone organized, discreet, and genuinely helpful who wants broad exposure across HR.
Key responsibilities
- Support the employee lifecycle from onboarding to offboarding
- Serve as the first point of contact for employee HR questions
- Maintain accurate HR records and support compliance
Responsibilities
- Coordinate onboarding and offboarding, including paperwork and system access
- Answer employee questions on policies, benefits, leave, and payroll
- Maintain accurate employee records and data in the HRIS
- Administer benefits enrollment, changes, and leave requests
- Support recruiting with scheduling, offer letters, and background checks
- Help managers apply HR policies consistently and fairly
- Assist with employee relations issues and escalate the sensitive ones
- Track and support performance review and check-in cycles
- Prepare HR reports on headcount, turnover, and leave balances
- Help plan engagement activities and keep the handbook up to date
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, business, or a related field
- 2 or more years in an HR coordinator or generalist role
- Working knowledge of HR practices and basic employment law
- Experience with an HRIS and standard HR software
- Strong organization, discretion, and attention to detail
