Payroll Specialist Job Description
About the role
We are hiring a Payroll Specialist to run our payroll accurately, on time, and in full compliance. You will process pay cycles, manage deductions and tax filings, and be the go-to person for employee pay questions. This role is a great fit for someone meticulous, deadline-driven, and trustworthy with confidential information.
Key responsibilities
- Process accurate, on-time payroll each cycle
- Manage deductions, taxes, and statutory filings
- Resolve employee payroll queries
Day-to-day responsibilities
- Process end-to-end payroll for all employees each pay cycle
- Verify timesheets, attendance, overtime, and leave inputs before processing
- Calculate and apply deductions, reimbursements, bonuses, and salary adjustments
- Ensure accurate tax withholding and file statutory returns on schedule
- Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies before disbursement
- Prepare payslips, pay registers, and payroll reports for finance and HR
- Manage full and final settlements for exiting employees
- Keep payroll records audit-ready and compliant with regulations
- Respond to employee questions on pay, deductions, and tax documents
- Coordinate with HR and finance on new hires, exits, and salary changes
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, commerce, or a related field
- 3 or more years of hands-on payroll processing experience
- Working knowledge of payroll software and statutory tax and deduction rules
- Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail under tight deadlines
- Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion
