Everything about the Business Acumen Test
This test is one part of screening every applicant from one link: add a one-way video interview and resume scoring, and compare candidates in one report.
What is the Business Acumen Test?
The Business Acumen Test is built for roles where people make or influence commercial decisions. Financial questions cover margin, operating profit, working capital, cash versus profit and sunk costs. Strategy questions cover competitive advantage, pricing strategies, market share, the BCG matrix and Porter's Five Forces. Operations questions cover opportunity cost, bottlenecks, payback, make-or-buy and expected value. Customer questions cover retention, lifetime value, price sensitivity and segmentation. Every question is short and concrete, often with simple numbers, so it tests judgment rather than textbook definitions alone.
What the Business Acumen Test does not measure
It does not measure knowledge of your industry or how a candidate leads people. Ask them to walk through a real business decision they made in a recorded interview.
How does the Business Acumen Test work?
The Business Acumen Test is an auto-scored multiple-choice test. Each candidate answers 20 questions drawn at random from a bank of 60, so two candidates rarely see the same set, and most finish in 8 to 12 minutes. The questions are spread evenly across financial basics, strategy and markets, operations and decisions and customers and value, with a mix of easy, medium and hard items, and the report shows a score for each area as well as an overall score.
Why is the Business Acumen Test important to employers?
People without business acumen can be good at their job and still make poor calls: chasing revenue that loses money, ignoring cash, or defending a project because of what was already spent. This test shows who understands the economics behind their work, which predicts better decisions as people take on budgets, teams and customers.
