Everything about the Hotel Front Desk Test
This test is one part of screening every applicant from one link: add a one-way video interview and resume scoring, and compare candidates in one report.
What is the Hotel Front Desk Test?
The Hotel Front Desk Test is built for hiring front office staff in hotels and serviced apartments. Reservation questions cover check-in checks, early arrivals, overbooking, no-shows and room allocation. Guest service questions cover complaints, noise, requests and service recovery. Billing questions cover folios, deposits, incidentals, ADR and occupancy, and correcting charges. Safety and security questions cover key cards, room number privacy, unknown visitors, emergencies and guest data. The scenarios fit hotels of any size and do not depend on a particular property management system.
What the Hotel Front Desk Test does not measure
It does not measure skill in a specific property management system or spoken languages. Check those in a recorded or live interview.
How does the Hotel Front Desk Test work?
The Hotel Front Desk Test is an auto-scored multiple-choice test. Each candidate answers 20 questions drawn at random from a bank of 60, so two candidates rarely see the same set, and most finish in 8 to 12 minutes. The questions are spread evenly across reservations and check-in, guest service, billing and safety and security, with a mix of easy, medium and hard items, and the report shows a score for each area as well as an overall score.
Why is the Hotel Front Desk Test important to employers?
The front desk shapes reviews, repeat stays and security. An agent who reads out a room number, mishandles a complaint or posts a charge wrongly can cost a guest's trust or put them at risk. This test shows who serves guests well and follows the rules that keep them safe.
