Everything about the Manufacturing Test
This test is one part of screening every applicant from one link: add a one-way video interview and resume scoring, and compare candidates in one report.
What is the Manufacturing Test?
The Manufacturing Test is built for roles above the line operator. Planning questions cover schedules, capacity, bottlenecks, changeovers, MRP and sequencing jobs to meet due dates. Quality questions cover QC versus QA, SPC and control charts, first-pass yield, corrective actions, fishbone diagrams, calibration and cost of quality. Lean questions cover waste, kaizen, kanban, value stream maps, SMED, poka-yoke and pull systems. Metrics questions cover throughput, scrap, downtime, availability, labor productivity and OEE. Many questions use short calculations with simple numbers.
What the Manufacturing Test does not measure
It does not measure hands-on skill with your machines or processes, or physical tasks. Check machine experience in a recorded interview and use a practical trial for hands-on roles.
How does the Manufacturing Test work?
The Manufacturing Test is an auto-scored multiple-choice test. Each candidate answers 20 questions drawn at random from a bank of 60, so two candidates rarely see the same set, and most finish in 8 to 12 minutes. The questions are spread evenly across production planning, quality systems, lean and efficiency and production metrics, with a mix of easy, medium and hard items, and the report shows a score for each area as well as an overall score.
Why is the Manufacturing Test important to employers?
Production problems compound quickly. A supervisor who misreads a bottleneck, pushes output while scrap climbs or lets improvements slip back loses money every shift. This test shows who understands how a plant really runs, from planning to quality to the numbers on the KPI board.
