Everything about the Inventory Management Test
This test is one part of screening every applicant from one link: add a one-way video interview and resume scoring, and compare candidates in one report.
What is the Inventory Management Test?
The Inventory Management Test is built for roles that keep stock accurate and available. Methods questions cover FIFO, FEFO, LIFO, weighted average cost, ABC analysis, JIT, consignment stock and kitting. Stock control questions cover reorder points, safety stock, lead times, EOQ and the trade-off between ordering and holding costs. Accuracy questions cover cycle counts, blind counts, variances, phantom inventory, unit-of-measure errors and cut-off. Metrics questions cover turnover, days of inventory, holding cost, fill rate and GMROI. Calculations use simple figures, so the test checks understanding rather than spreadsheet skill.
What the Inventory Management Test does not measure
It does not measure skill in a specific inventory or ERP system, or physical tasks such as forklift driving. Check system experience in a recorded interview and licenses separately.
How does the Inventory Management Test work?
The Inventory Management Test is an auto-scored multiple-choice test. Each candidate answers 20 questions drawn at random from a bank of 60, so two candidates rarely see the same set, and most finish in 8 to 12 minutes. The questions are spread evenly across inventory methods, stock control, counting and accuracy and inventory metrics, with a mix of easy, medium and hard items, and the report shows a score for each area as well as an overall score.
Why is the Inventory Management Test important to employers?
Inventory ties up cash and decides whether customers get their orders. A controller who sets reorder points without lead times, adjusts counts without investigating or chases turnover at the cost of stockouts can damage both service and margins. This test shows who understands the levers and keeps records accurate.
