Everything about the Retail Management Test
Pair this test with the rest of the first round: springhire's candidate screening software adds a one-way video interview and resume scoring to the same candidate link, ranked in one report.
What is the Retail Management Test?
The Retail Management Test is built for store leadership roles. Operations questions cover deliveries at peak times, out-of-stocks, accidents, opening and closing and keeping standards. Leadership questions cover recognition, turnover, rude high performers, rotas, targets and coaching. Sales and merchandising questions cover conversion, promotions that cannibalise other products, selling to browsers, displays and loyalty. KPI and loss questions cover conversion rate, average transaction value, sell-through, shrinkage, register errors and investigating stock loss. Several questions use simple store numbers, and the scenarios suit fashion, grocery, electronics and specialist retail alike.
What the Retail Management Test does not measure
It does not measure a candidate's track record of results or their style with a real team. Explore those with behavioral interview questions.
How does the Retail Management Test work?
The Retail Management Test is an auto-scored multiple-choice test. Each candidate answers 20 questions drawn at random from a bank of 60, so two candidates rarely see the same set, and most finish in 8 to 12 minutes. The questions are spread evenly across store operations, team leadership, sales and merchandising and KPIs and loss, with a mix of easy, medium and hard items, and the report shows a score for each area as well as an overall score.
Why is the Retail Management Test important to employers?
A store manager shapes sales, staff turnover and losses every day. One who misreads conversion, tolerates a rude high performer or ignores shrink can cost far more than their salary. This test shows who understands retail operations, leads people fairly and manages by the right numbers.
