Everything about the Janitor and Cleaner Test
This test is one part of screening every applicant from one link: add a one-way video interview and resume scoring, and compare candidates in one report.
What is the Janitor and Cleaner Test?
The Janitor and Cleaner Test is built for hiring cleaning and custodial staff. Cleaning method questions cover the right order to clean a room, products for different surfaces, floor care, restrooms and dealing with spills. Chemical safety questions cover reading labels and safety data sheets, which products must not be mixed, dilution, PPE and storage. Hygiene questions cover cleaning versus disinfecting, contact time, color-coded cloths, body fluids and preventing cross-contamination. Work habit questions cover reporting damage, wet floor signs, working in occupied areas, keys and security, and finishing assigned areas properly.
What the Janitor and Cleaner Test does not measure
It does not measure physical stamina or speed. A short supervised trial shift shows both.
How does the Janitor and Cleaner Test work?
The Janitor and Cleaner Test is an auto-scored multiple-choice test. Each candidate answers 20 questions drawn at random from a bank of 60, so two candidates rarely see the same set, and most finish in 8 to 12 minutes. The questions are spread evenly across cleaning methods, chemical safety, hygiene and work habits, with a mix of easy, medium and hard items, and the report shows a score for each area as well as an overall score.
Why is the Janitor and Cleaner Test important to employers?
Poor cleaning spreads infection and causes slips, and mixing the wrong chemicals can injure staff. A cleaner who follows dilution rules, uses the right cloth for the right area and reports hazards protects everyone in the building. This test shows who knows how to clean safely and thoroughly.
